What is Lot 20?
February 27, 2019 Paul
The Lot 20 Directive sets a mandatory minimum specification requirement addressing inefficient products in order to reach overall carbon reduction targets. Previously targeted categories include: Light bulbs, TVs', Domestic appliances (dishwashers, washing machines and tumble dryers) and Gas boilers.
Lot 20 states that all local space heaters manufactured for sale after 1st January 2018 which use electricity must comply with a minimum efficiency standard.
This includes: Storage heaters, Direct acting heaters, Portable heaters, Radiant heaters and Electric fires.
The aim of Lot 20 legislation is to rule out energy inefficient technologies used within our homes without an increase in the combined costs of purchasing and operating the products.
